Full Artwork Description:
Ancient Iranian culture and the art of design hold a unique and extraordinary power to inspire new creations. The wall paintings in the historical palaces of Ali Qapu and Chehel Sotoun—mostly from the Safavid era and crafted by prominent artists such as Reza Abbasi—depicts the grandeur and elegance of their time through scenes of royal courts, aristocrats, breathtaking landscapes, and moments of war. These masterpieces have always fascinated me. From an early age, I dreamed of designing textiles and garments that fuse traditional Persian art with modern aesthetics. This collection consists of two parts: textile design and fashion design. The featured garment is based on one of the three key textile patterns in the series: Mehmani (Feast), Raqs (Dance), and Mina. The chosen pattern—Mehmani—illustrates a festive gathering where guests are being served and joyfully socializing. A central figure in the collection is Mina, a fictional character imagined as a graceful bird who travels through a time tunnel to the Qajar dynasty. There, she witnesses a grand celebration in the Music Hall of Ali Qapu Palace. Along her journey, Mina meets renowned artists like Reza Abbasi, sees their magnificent works firsthand, and draws inspiration from their legacy. The garment design features collaged silhouettes inspired by traditional Qajar clothing and the minimalist style of Jil Sander. As mentioned earlier, the collection merges the visual richness of the Safavid era with a contemporary fashion language. The textile is printed using sublimation on American satin, and embellished with jewel embroidery to enhance its luxurious feel. The result is a regal outfit, envisioned for a grand Qajar-style celebration.Model: Julia Snadchuk (@julia_eu_model)
